BiBi Express

Bibi Express project is an initiative of BiBi Cash and Carry together with the Free State Provincial Government to alleviate poverty and the xenophobic attacks that have emerged in our country.

The concept is to help business men and women within the retail sector to compete with foreign traders and national traders. BiBi Cash and Carry saw this project as an important tool to discourage xenophobia.

The Free State Provincial Government donated R 1 000 000 through PDI (Previously Disadvantaged Individuals) and retailers in the Maluti-A-Phofung Municipality to kick start this project. Twenty individuals were identified as beneficiaries and the money was split amongst them.

Breakdown is as follows:

R 35 000: Start-up stock

R 5 000:

  • Signage
  • Uniform
  • Stationery
  • Cash registers
  • Launch expenses

R 10 000: Administration

These chosen entrepreneurs were taken through a mentorship programme by the MD of Bibi Cash and Carry; Mr Tommy Makhatho.

This project is on a trial phase with the hopes and knowledge that with all the necessary tools and monitoring they are provided with will be a success.

Our main objective is to take this project though the whole Free State with the help of our Government and Funding.
